Lombok: Walk Off The Common Tourism Destinations

Lombok is undeniably beautiful, renowned for its stunning natural landscapes that captivate travelers from around the globe. The island’s majestic Mount Rinjani offers breathtaking views and an exhilarating adventure. The Gili Islands have clear water and tons of colorful fish, perfect for snorkeling and diving fans. Kuta Beach attracts beach lovers and surfers with its panoramic and waves. These iconic destinations are what most people associate with Lombok’s beauty, painting a picture of an island paradise that rivals its famous neighbor, Bali.

However, this beauty often overshadows another side of Lombok that remains largely undiscovered. They are rarely visited but equally enchanting, waiting to be explored.

Located on the southeastern coast of Lombok, Pink Beach, or Tangsi Beach, is a marvel of nature with its distinctive pinkish sand. This rare phenomenon is caused by the mixture of white sand and red coral fragments, creating a unique and picturesque shoreline. The beach’s remote location ensures a peaceful and uncrowded environment, ideal for snorkeling, swimming, and simply basking in the beauty of this natural wonder.

2.Sekotong Peninsula

Run on the Sekotong Peninsula

The Sekotong Peninsula is a hidden paradise in the southwest of Lombok with pristine beaches and excellent diving spots. Unlike the more famous Gili Islands, Sekotong remains off the beaten path, offering a quieter and more intimate experience. Small islands such as Gili Asahan, Gili Gede, and Gili Nanggu are part of this region. Each has its own charm and crystal-clear waters teeming with marine life. Gili Asahan is the best spot for diving in Lombok with colorful underwater heaven.

3.Tiu Kelep Waterfall

Immerse in the ambiance of Tiu Kelep Waterfall

Located under the feet of Rinjani Mountain, this stunning waterfall is surrounded by lush tropical green forest, providing a serene and refreshing escape. The journey to these falls involves a trek through picturesque landscapes, with fewer tourists making the journey compared to other attractions. The sight of water cascading down the rocks, enveloped by dense foliage, is a mesmerizing experience for nature lovers. (See our trip package to North Lombok here)

4.Sembalun Village

Aside from its role as a gateway to Mount Rinjani, this village offers stunning views, cool weather, and a chance to explore the local farming culture. However, not many people are well informed that through this village they can hike to many other hills with wonderful panorama in only one day such as Pergasingan Hill, Anak Dara Hill, Savana Propok, and Savana Dandaun Hill. You can just easily rent accommodation to go there and not spend too much money to see the uphill sunrise view. They are also very good for new hikers.
